Divx playback for Clie's! Comments

MMPlayer has been updated to include Clie support meaning now Clie handhelds can have a full multimedia player on our machine that doesn't require files to be converted.

Dude, how is your divx on your Clie going?

I recently bought a Clie NZ90... downloaded MMPlayer.. I Have a 256MB mem/stick.... and Im trying myself to get those 700MB divX movies to fit....

I have tried to playback the sample movie "Sabotage" on the MMPlayer site... but my PDA returns the error:
"Failed to open 'ext:1/SABOTAGE.AVI".
Failed to open input file."

Any ideas?

I wonder if I delete the built-in Movie Play software, whether my Video Camera on the NZ90 will still work.. hmmm

thanks

James,

The main trick to getting movies to work on the Clie is using the app Virtual Dub on the PC and converting the audio. The audio must be 8,000Hz, 8-bit Mono to work on the Clies. The demo's at the mmplayer website are not in that format. And I tried getting that Sabotage video to work, but that video was encoded very strangly. I couldn't even get it to playback on my PC.
I haven't had success with every video I have tried, and each time it took about 5 or more to get a movie that worked properly in MMPlayer. Sometimes you have to adust the audio interleaving, sometimes the framerate decimation has to be changed.
Also, make sure you are using the lastest experimental beta, as the stable version doesn't work on Clies.
Good Luck!

I just picked up the new Kinoma. It just converted 30 min of anime to 64 megs at top resolution and stereo sound. It may be too large for your applications but I think the new version of Kinoma is a good choice for the price. I only have my old n760c but it works well with it.

Please, excuse me for my poor english. (I'm Spanish)

I try to convert a film with VirtualDub, I configure de Video like you say, 8Khz. 8-bit and mono in VirtualDub.

MMplayer reproduce my film, but no the sound of film.

I'm using a NX70V Clie.

Have you any idea?

Thank You for all.

I am trying to convert the movie files that I have recorded on my Clie NX70V from MQV format to anything that will play on Windows Media Player, RealOne Player or Quicktime Player. What do I need to do? Thanks.

Justin,

There is no conversion needed to playback the movies in Quicktime. Just make sure you have version 6 or newer. You can right-click the MQV files in Windows and tell it to open in Quicktime. You can also associate the .MQV file extension with Quicktime so you can just double-click the files to run them.

I haven't tried this in a while, but I am fairly certain that Quicktime Pro is able to do this. The .mqv format is basicly a Quicktime MPEG-4 format. Unfortunately, the free Quicktime doesn't have any conversion abilty.
